Abstract

Introduction: Prevalence of helminthiasis in the world and Indonesia are still increased. One of the most causes of maternal deaths is Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) infection, which can increase prevalence of infant mortality.

Methods: To minimize and mitigate these conditions, we devise an integration strategy between prevention counseling efforts and rapid diagnosis on Maternal and Child Health Clinic (MCHC). In addition, this strategy will support the accelerated achievement of Millennium Development Growth (MDGs) that promoted by Indonesian Ministry of Health. R

Result: Using literature study, we obtained factors that increase the transmission rate of STH in tropical region which summarized in table 1 and 2. Then, we synthesize practical counseling strategies in table 3.

Conclusion: That can be directly applied to the MCHC at the health center. As an application of rapid diagnosis method can be done in health centers by adjusting local circumstances. We integrate this method into MCHC which is expected to be national integrated program. Strategies merger between counseling prevention and rapid diagnosis can be applied in an integrated manner on MCHC because theoretically an effective and efficient strategy to controlling and preventing of low birth weight and maternal anemia.
